the first born.

hi! to whomever might be reading this...it may be no one, but that's ok. :)

i have been asked time and time again to begin a blog, specifically so peeps could track our adventures here in Japan and keep tabs on us. soooo, this is my very first attempt at "blogging". my insides are kinda screaming at me as i write this and "publish" my numero uno blog. for a couple reasons...it always seems like SO much work. people that write blogs are good with words, whitty, "cool" and well...bloggers. i am not. they seem organized, on top of uploading all their pictures 34 seconds after they happen, posted with perfect editing and i feel like i am reading a really good, funny book. i'm like, "do you take a little notepad and take notes while you were on that hike or riding that elephant, cause how the heck did you come up with something so great, so quick. or better yet, maybe they have a great idea for a blog post and go out and make that idea happen so they can post something about it. "ok Bobby, you go outside and i'll act like i don't know you're out there, and then go ahead and role in the mud and eat some dirt and then i'll come and take pictures of you so Mommy can post it on her blog, ok?" another reason i'm uber intimidated is...i am already so far behind in our adventures here. guess better late then never. i though when we moved here that the 15 hour time difference wouldn't be that big of a deal. well, guess what...it is. it has been SO hard keeping in touch with you all, and for that i apologize. i feel like an awful friend, please know you are not forgotten about. there really are SO many amazing and neat things i do want to share. this place is amazing. it is such a blessing to be here, to live here and i want to share it with you!

i guess starting this blog kinda feels like i'm having a child. our first born if you will. without the heee-heee-hooo, heee-heee-hooo and dirty diaper part. but the upkeep and responsibility and accountability it involves, because i know when i launch this, people will check it and expect new posts and i know that my average one paragraph a year will not be sufficient to hang with all the professional bloggers in this writing world. i will try my hardest to post new treats quickly when they happen. (people are still buggin me for photos from 4 months ago. sorry!) hope you enjoy our adventures, our moments, funny, rejoicing, sad, hard, precious, or awkward, we have them all. please feel free to laugh at us at any moment. i guarantee we are already laughing. :)

thanks for caring about us enough to stop by and see what's going on in our world. may you be encouraged in some way, that our life looks a lot like yours and we are just a couple of crazies that really don't have a clue, but are trusting in The One that does have a clue and always provides. so, here i go, watch me, falling out of my comfort zone...oh yep...there i went. plop. i'm out.

k. for the team

  1. ok 2 things:

    1. i just bookmarked this on the smith computer - no pressure :)

    2. all those things you said about blogging and people that are witty, funny, etc. - i was thinking that about YOU before i even read it!!!

so i think this will be great and you don't have to write a book on every entry - most people don't want to read that much anyway - pictures with subtitles explaining them and you and dub's cute faces will suffice my friend!

think of you often! love you and miss you!

  4. blogging can be SO HARD! I promised everyone back home I'd blog every week - I've gone a month without blogging now. =S Keep at it! Every little bit counts. Here's hoping you're better at it than I am! Good luck!

  5. Hey Katie! You will be a great blogger...I've already enjoyed reading your posts so much. I started one a couple of years ago when we were living in WA and were away from family and friends. I'll look forward to reading about your adventures in Japan (my hubby has been there a couple of times on deployment). Looks like you are doing so well, congrats on your marriage and adventure!
